One of the priorities of the Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia is the protection of consumers’ rights in the field of insurance. The Service has a Department of Consumers’ Rights Protection and Financial Education, which was established to systematically monitor consumer protection in the insurance market.

With regard to the consumer protection in the field of insurance, the Service at the first stage (2016) issued a recommendation “On minimum standards for consumer protection”.

In order to strengthen market discipline in the insurance sector, to increase the economic efficiency of the consumer market and to raise consumer awareness, in 2017, the Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia issued the Instruction “On the Protection of Consumers’ Rights while Providing Insurance Services by the Insurer”.

The department of Consumers’ Rights Protection and Financial Education of the Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia monitors the implementation of the "Instruction on the protection of consumers’ rights while providing insurance services by the Insurer."

The Service is not entitled to act in the capacity of arbitrage or court, to resolve contractual disputes between the Insurer and the interested party, or to provide legal advices to the consumers.

In order for the interested parties to get information easily and quickly, the website of the Service has a user page that contains information about insurance, consumers’ rights, Insurers’ obligations and much more. The site also contains information about Insurers, insurance intermediaries, and statistics.
