ISSSG DELEGATION VISITING EUROPEAN INSURANCE AND OCCUPATIONAL PENSIONS AUTHORITY
On March 21-22, the city of Frankfurt, Germany hosted the Eastern Partnership Conference under the auspices of EIOPA where Davit Onoprishvili, head of ISSSG was invited as a speaker. Giorgi Shengelia, an advisor of ISSSG director and Tamar Shengelia, head of international relations division also participated in the Conference.
The event aims to facilitate the cooperation of the EU Economic Area countries with the authorities of the non-EU Economic Area countries of Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans, willing to implement EU legislation and standards in their jurisdictions. At the conference, special attention was paid to sharing of supervision experience and information between the supervision authorities of these countries.
As a specially invited speaker, Davit Onoprishvili made a speech at the panel discussion ‘’’new risks and key issues concerning supervision in the region’’. ISSSG director spoke about the current macro-economic situation in the region, challenges in supervision, draft bill of liability insurance of vehicle owners and life insurance products, development of sales channels, etc. These issues are important for further discussions of future risks of insurance companies and their affect on the supervision activities.
EIOPA is the implementing agency of insurance and occupational pensions supervision in Europe. Therefore, it is extremely important for ISSSG to have the opportunity and to participate in this event, to learn international experience in different topical issues and to use the acquired knowledge in its future activities.
Within the scope of the conference, Davit Onoprishvili held a meeting with Petra Hielkema, the head EIOPA (European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority). There were also bilateral meetings with colleagues, heads of insurance supervision authorities of Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and North Macedonia.
