World Bank Experts ViSiting Insurance State Supervision service of Georgia
Within the scope of ‘’Project to Enhance Financial Inclusion and Accountability in Georgia’’, Supported by the European Union and the World Bank, the mission of financing natural disasters, composed of World Bank experts, specialized in agro-insurance area visited ISSSG to hold a regular work meeting.
The experts met with Mr. Davit Onoprishvili, head of ISSSG, with participation of Mr. Edvard Vakhtangishvili, head of the Supervision Department, Ms. Tamar Shengelia, head of Insurance Normatives and International Relations Division and Ms. Mariam Koshoridze, head of the Consumer Rights Protection and Financial Education Division.
The perspectives of agro-insurance development in Georgia and the role of ISSSG in this process were discussed at the meeting. Special focus was made on macro-economic impact of agro-insurance. The potential changes to the State Program of Agro-insurance to improve the insurance coverage and blueberry provision were also reviewed. In regard to certain specific issues, the experts shared the best international practice with ISSSG representatives and relevant recommendations to address the current challenges.
